In a career spanning over 47 years, Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma has a rich experience of over 22 years of teaching which includes teaching Under Graduate (M.B.B.S.), M.S. (Gen. Surgery), and M.Ch. (Pediatric Surgery). As a testimonial to is academic excellence, he was felicitated with Rohatgi Oration Award at the coveted national Oration of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons and Sangam Lal Oration award at National Academy of Medical Sciences. Dr. Sharma was Felicitated by Rajasthan Medical Alumni Association USA for outstanding contribution to the community and achievements in the field of pediatric surgery at 21st Rajmaai annual convention. He was also awarded Chikitsa Vibhusan by Jaipur Medical Association & Medical Practioner Society and IAPS Gold Medal at annual conference of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgery. In his large gamut of work he has developed innovated technique of esophageal Anastomosis in cases of TENTEF which is known by his name; simple technique of coloraphy in Short Colon cases and innovative technique in management of choanal atresia. After his MS, Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma had initial training for more than 2 years in pediatric surgery and pediatric neurosurgery in UK. After MS, he did M.Ch from PGI Chandigarh and MNAMS from National Board of Examination, Delhi. Having worked in Department of Pediatric Surgery at SMS Medical College, Jaipur for 23 years, Dr. Sharma was senior professor and Head of the Department at the renowned medical college. He was also the Medical Superintendent in the J K Lon Hospital for 5 years. He was technical expert for Rajasthan Public Service Commission and UPSC. Dr. Sharma was member of Board of studies at Banaras Hindus University, President of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, Fellow of Academy of Medical Sciences (India), Senior Member of British Association of Pediatric Surgeon (BAPS) and visiting Professor to various international universities like University of ILLIONIS, University of Pittsburgh, Harvard University, University of Cincinnati (USA) and Tuff's University, Boston. Dr. Sharma has published 130 articles in various National & International journals. He has also presented 73 papers in various National and International conferences and forum.
